My opinion:

This Haig Road hawker stall has been making and selling putu piring (also known to Chinese as tutu kuehs) since 1985. For this 2016 food review, my mother and I have tasted 5 of their tutu kuehs for $2.00 ($0.40 each).

The dim sum items were warm even when we reached home 1 hour later! They were appetizing, medium sized and covered with coconut slices. Sadly the good points ended here. In terms of taste and texture, the tutu kuehs were dry, soft and lacking in gula meleka goodness. Honestly, we did not crave for more dim sum items after finishing our food portion.

To sum up, the food here was economical, handmade but had some flaws that prevented us from becoming their long term fans. As tutu kueh food stalls are very difficult to find nowadays, we will recommend “Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring” to foodies just to relieve their craving.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Add more gula melaka in the kuehs’ preparation process.
