Will I come back again in 6 months’ time? No, there are better alternatives

My opinion:

Chao Yuan means “source of waves” in Chinese. If I am not wrong, this is the only stall that sells Chinese fish soup in Haig Road Food Centre (monopoly). For this 2016 food review, I have tried their sliced fish soup with rice for $4.50.

I had to wait 15 minutes before being served my food. Besides the horrendous waiting time, the sarcastic comments from the male helper made me really angry and embarrassed in front of  my friends (poor service).

There were 8 fish slices, 1 bowl of soup and 1 bowl of rice in my food portion. Fish slices ranged from medium to big sized. Although they were firm, fresh, healthy and did not break apart easily, the meat texture was bit too rough to convert me to a supporter of this stall.

Fish soup was addictive, fragrant and had a strong seafood taste. Seaweed was too little to add significant bonus points to the soup’s flavor. Doufu and tomato slices were considered “missing in action”. Rice was well cooked and did not suffer from sticky problems.

To sum up, the food here had shiok soup but there was room for improvement in the fish meat areas. If you are a seafood fan who is not so nit fussy, T.G should be able to satisfy your hunger and craving for fish soup.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Improve your service, add more fish meat and introduce tomato slices as soup ingredients.
