My opinion:

Old Chang Kee is very famous in Singapore and has branches throughout the island. The owners sell traditional Singapore Chinese breakfast, curry puffs, desserts, dim sum, fried chicken wings and fried fishballs. I have tried their signature curry puff ($1.50) and fried chicken wing ($1.70).

All my family members are fans of Old Chang Kee’s curry puffs. In fact, most Singaporeans grow up eating them. Curry puff crust was not too thick or thin, but a bit too oily. The food was completely stuffed full of curry and potato ingredients (major plus points for not cutting costs).

The fried chicken wing was big, crispy and not too oily or salty. As I ate the food more, I found that the chicken skin was too “artificial” and “thick”. Honestly the price of $1.70 was too pricey for this simple snack food. A more reasonable price would be $1.40 or less.

In conclusion, Old Chang Kee’s signature curry puffs stood the test of time but their fried chicken wings were average tasting and expensive. The owners are strongly advised to add less flour to the chicken wing preparation process.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

First, the preparation process of the chicken wings should be reviewed. Second, carry out more promotional sales. A good example is their Singapore 50th birthday discount coupons on Lianhe Wanbao newspaper.
