My opinion:

He Jian Bian Fan means “simple cooked food for the entire family” in Chinese. This stall specializes in traditional Singapore mixed vegetable rice. I have tried their rice meal for $3.80. For this review, I chose curry chicken, french fries with hot dog bits and pork meat as my food items.

Curry chicken was juicy and tender. Curry was flavorful and thick. French fries and hot dog bits were bland, rough and tasted awkward when mixed with the slimy sweet sauce. Pork meat was soft, well cooked and bathed in thick sauce.

The food’s main weakness lied in the rice area. It was poorly cooked and too sticky. To make matters worse, the curry and all the meat sauces greatly worsened the rice’s sticky problems.

To sum up, the rice meal here was cheap, plentiful and badly let down by the sticky rice. The owners are strongly advised to review the rice preparation and cooking process.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

First, check the quality of the rice. Second, reduce the amount of water in the rice’s cooking process.
