My opinion:

Bin Cheng Jia Xiang Wei means “Penang homemade food” in Chinese. This coffee shop stall specializes in traditional Northern Malaysian cuisine. For this 2016 food review, my mother and I have tasted their laksa for $4.00.

There were moderate of rice noodles in our takeaway portion. Cockles, egg, pork or shrimps are all “missing in action” (severe minus points). This was a super bad start for this review. Fortunately, the soup was so addictive and fragrant that it totally reversed the situation. My mother took one hungry sip after another (with me watching in amazement). The rice noodles were the roughest that we had tasted in at least a decade and mixed flawlessly with the rice noodles.

To sum up, the laksa here was really good but not worth $4.00. If you are a laksa fan that lives in Singapore east, my advice is to try out their unique Penang version and see whether your taste buds like it. For foodies that live in Singapore north or west, my advice is to give this stall a miss and try out tastier alternatives nearer your present location.

Ways for the owners to improve their food ratings:

Add some meat ingredients for future customers.
