Common Fengshui Mistakes (37) Please do not keep broken mirrors in your home

Fish Tank and Mirrors

Breaking a mirror is considered bad luck in both Chinese Fengshui and Western superstition. According to westerners, you need to endure 7 years of bad luck for breaking a mirror. My solution is to take the broken mirror outdoors and wait for it to rain. The rainwater will “wash” away your bad luck. After the rain has stopped, put the broken mirror in a plastic bag and throw it away.

Some people may keep very old mirrors for sentimental reasons. It is very common to see old mirrors that are slightly broken. Putting mirrors with sharp edges in your home is a major Fengshui taboo. These type of mirrors have both negative “sha” and “yin” energy. Your family and yourself may experience body ailments and psychological stress in the long run. Spirits like to use broken mirrors as a “home” so be very careful. My solution is to send the mirrors for repair or donate them to the local museum if they are of significant value.
